Dollar Tree candle holder hack: Pinterest Challenge
Welcome to the April Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by My Pinterventures! The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen! So this month, I chose to give a Dollar Tree candle holder a face lift. Here is the original pin.
Let's get started. I first pinned this idea to my Dollar Tree Hacks board. Little House of Four is where my Pin led to. She's amazing! If you visit, be prepared to get lost with all her fun Dollar Tree hacks.

I really liked what she did to hers and figured why not give it a shot. I mean, really, what would I lose but a couple of bucks and some time?
My friend has been giving me these 3" core rings from their firewood bundles plastic wrap. It seemed like the two would be a fun crafty project.

The Dollar Tree candle holder looks like this.

I gathered some supplies and got to work.
The first thing I did was use fabric contact sheets to wrap the 3" core ring. Found the polka dot print at Michael's in the clearance bin for a buck.

Once the rings were covered, got busy giving the candle holders a makeover.
First was to give each a coat of Rust-Oleum's Chalked paint Linen White. Once it had dried, sparingly used Waverly Antique wax wipe on-wipe off method which gave it that rustic look. During this process, some of the original black revealed itself. So I just kind of used this process of chalk paint, rubbed wax process until I got the look I liked.
Here's how they turned out...

The airy grass container was also a Dollar Tree hack which you can see how it was done here.
Such a simple project. I love how they turned out and how versatile they are. Could easily change up to fit any season.
